Dror Gill
Dror Gill is a Generative AI Evangelist, helping organizations leverage AI tools to increase efficiency and supercharge their operations. With over 30 years of experience in technology, Mr. Gill has served as CTO, VP Product and VP Marketing at leading companies. He holds a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, is the co-inventor of 37 granted patents, and winner of the 2021 Technology and Engineering Emmy® award.
Biography
In the mid-1990s, Mr. Gill joined the IBM Research Lab in Haifa as a Project Manager, pioneering the fields of media streaming over IP, Internet telephony and voice-over-IP gateways, and involved in developing the world's first mobile videophone. Collaborating with Sun Microsystems, Mr. Gill led the development of the Java Media Framework, the official multimedia library of Sun’s Java language.
After IBM, Mr. Gill joined Emblaze Semiconductor as CTO, where he led the development of a multimedia processor chip that powered the world’s first video-enabled cellular phone by Samsung. He also served as Chairman of the Wireless Multimedia Forum (WMF), an industry consortium that set global standards for video streaming over cellular networks.
Following his tenure at Emblaze, Mr. Gill founded Gamdala Ltd., a consulting company that provided strategic, marketing and technical consulting to leading global companies including NEC, Comverse, Radvision, M-Systems, Zoran, and many others. He authored Informa’s strategic market research report on Mobile Video Services, and published a prominent blog on Mobile TV. During this period, Mr. Gill also served as Entrepreneur in Residence at Giza Venture Capital, where he evangelized Smart TVs and Social TV.
In 2009, Mr. Gill joined Beamr (NASDAQ: BMR) as its first employee, serving in various roles including CTO, VP Product, and VP Marketing. At Beamr, Mr. Gill led the development of the company’s pioneering “perceptual video encoding” technology, which reduces video bitrates by 20-50% without affecting quality. He co-authored 37 granted patents based on this technology, and won the 2021 Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences for improving TV streaming over the Internet.
Today, Mr. Gill is an independent Generative AI Evangelist, using his extensive technology and business experience to help organizations through the Generative AI Transformation process. He has conducted Generative AI presentations and workshops at numerous events and organizations, including: DLD conference in Munich, AI Global Summit in Italy, Ministry of Science in Serbia, the government of Albania, Center for Education Technology in Israel, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Microsoft for Startups program, IBM, Samsung, CLEAR, Amdocs, Direct Insurance, Dekel and many other companies.
In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Gill also leads a monthly meetup of entrepreneurs and investors, partners with Yossi Vardi, the Israeli hi-tech “guru” in organizing events in Israel and abroad, and is the lead singer in the rock band “Beta”.
